Dear class,
It has been a pleasure teaching this class of wonderful minds so I thank you! Sadly, we are nearing
the end of the semester. This will be our last blog entry so make it count. Please answer the following
questions based on the material we have talked about in class and as well as the reading of the
Weimar Republic.
Questions:
1. What role do intellectuals play in a new government, such as the Weimar Republic?
2. Do they have a special obligation to be supportive and not overly critical of their new government?
3. When you learn about a new place and understand its political system for the first time, what was
the first thing that you noticed?
4. What are the stereotypes that fall upon the culture, military, and economic power within your
assigned region?
Class i am disappointed to see that not one student attempted to do the homework assignment. Because you had to work on your final project I will let you do this as a bonus assignment.

ReplyDelete1.- I think the intellectuals help to get a better goverment. I don't know much, but in my opinion I think they are helpful with the goverment. For example, the Weimar Republic got some failures and actually, this happen in these days, too. The intellectuals have the role for help the government against with it problems like the crisis. Also, the Weimar Republic got help from the military and they can be an example of intellectuals.
2.- I think they have a special obligation because they also have to help their governments. But sometimes the people is critic with the government because they don't always agreed with the rules of something about it.
3.-I think the first thing that I notice is how the people do their work, I mean, if really them do a good work. Also, I identify how the system is divided and who are the leaders. I think the most important characteristic about a political system is the relationship between it and the state, country or city.
4.- Italians are the best dresses in the world because fashions take a big place there. Also, Italians just eat pizza or pasta. Italians are very rich people because their economy is the fourth more big in European Union. This can be truth, but also Italy has poor places.
Greeks are very lazy people, but I read some stadistics and they said that the greeks work more hours than other places in Europe. Some people say greeks are ambitious people, but Greece has a big debt with Germany.
All Spanish know how to dance Flamenco, they are lazy people, and they always eat paella. Some people say that in Spain the majority ofthe people don't have a work and it have a big crisis. These stereotypes are the same to Portugal.
I think that intellectuals play an important role in society because they are the ones who always kept up to date and try to make society is updated with them, for example I think that sign agreements as armistice was great because it meant instead on the story because they had too many problems and needed something new, such an agreement between countries to maintain peace
ReplyDeleteI think that they are required to stay informed about what the government does, because changing the government system is very complicated and they need several people to monitor this.
The first thing I look for is that governmental system is, if a republic or a monarchy. I also like to know more less the history of this country to understand how people, the country, the area.
Western European stereotypes vary somewhat in France the stereotype is that everyone dress fashionably, that smell nice, they are very lovely, highly educated; also that his army is very powerful and that the country is powerful and beautiful. Belgium does not have a big stereotype just eating chocolates, beer. And from the Netherlands that make cheeses that have farms that consume a lot of dairy.
I have stereotypes about the East Asia. It is about the distance. Japan, North Korea, South Korea, China and Taiwan are located at East Asia. But, there is a long distance at East Asia. Japan and Taiwan is island. So we have to use plain or ship to access to their countries. And it is difficult to go into North Korea. Their locations are very close each other. But it is not easy to access each other.
